Santee Cooper Electric Cooperative is warning customers they have received reports of scammers calling to say they are disconnecting the customer’s power unless they pay their bill immediately using a credit card over the phone. The company issued a press release staring Santee Cooper is NOT disconnecting any customer’s power at this time and would NEVER call to ask for a credit card number. If you receive such a call, Santee Cooper asks that you hang up immediately and report it to the Customer Care Center at 800-804-7424 or email@example.com.
